It is pure summer fun lying on a blanket under the stars watching a fabulous movie at Starlight Cinema, which is back bigger than ever in 2008 with a great line-up of recent release films.

Starlight Cinema celebrates its fifth season at North Sydney Oval and is also sharing the fun with inner west residents at Leichhardt Oval.

The Leichhardt Oval, the home of the Balmain Tigers, program includes a two-week season in celebration of the Club’s Centenary from 15 January 2008. The North Sydney program will open on 30 January 2008 with a preview of the award-winning Bella – winner of the People’s Choice Award at Toronto Film Festival.

Jill Keyte, Producer of Starlight Cinema said, “Our experience over the past four years has shown the North Shore loves outdoor cinema and we are expanding this year’s program to include more genres. We are thrilled with this season’s program and know our patrons will be just as excited.”

Following the outstanding success of the Helga’s European Film Festival at St Leonards Park during November, Starlight Cinema has introduced a foreign language and art house stream to its 2008 program. There is something for everyone from romance and comedy, to adventure, thrillers, drama and documentary.

Movies include Into the Wild, 2 Days in Paris, PS I Love You, Across the Universe, Enchanted, Atonement, The Darjeeling Limited, Juno and American Gangster. Two Australian films will feature on Starlight Cinema’s program: The Home Song Stories and September.

Patrons can dine on a delicious pre-ordered hamper from Pieces of Provence, or relax and be ‘treated like a star’ in Star Class: the VIP area with a personal deck chair, hamper and waiter service. The alfresco Dining Terrace offers The Snagman’s sumptuous gourmet sausage barbecue menu, with Hungerford Hill wines and Grinders Coffee to complete your experience.

Bring a blanket, hire a backrest, or sit in one of the covered stands as you enjoy your film in the balmy summer evening. Starlight Cinema gates and the Dining Terrace open from 7pm each night. Tickets for are available online from $16 or from the gate each night from $20.

For the perfect Christmas gift buy a gift voucher which can be used for any Starlight Cinema movie.
