Its spring and the nights are getting warmer, so what better way to celebrate the season than with fine film, food and friends.
For four nights in November, under starry Sydney skies, lovers of great international film will flock to St Leonards Park in North Sydney for a unique smorgasbord of FREE cinematic delights and a picnic pack.
The Helga’s European Film Festival has been created to celebrate a continental evening of cinematic experience. This free community event will emphasise the European heritage of Helga’s continental Bakehouse bread.
Each night from Wednesday 14 November to Saturday 17 November 2007, a major European feature film will screen on the magnificent 16m x 8m inflatable Starlight Cinema screen.
The outdoor cinema experience in Sydney is unparalleled for its exhilarating and sociable atmosphere, and this FREE festival is a great way to kick-start the festive season.
The festival opens with La Vie En Rose, the brilliant and mesmerising story of legendary French singer Edith Piaf, starring Marion Cotillard in a highly acclaimed performance.
This is followed on the second night by the blockbuster Casino Royale, the latest and most exciting James Bond film yet, shot in some of Europe’s most exotic locations.
The third film in the festival is the ever popular Chocolat, featuring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp in a delicious tale of community, love and, of course, chocolate.
The final night’s film will be I Do: How to get married & Stay Single, a charming French comedy for the modern age.
There’s plenty to feast on while watching the movies, as Helga’s is offering a free picnic pack*, full of the indulgent tastes of Europe, for the first 500 guests who register for each night at the website. Just visit www.helgas.com.au to register.
